Sudhu Tewari
flatways
flatways is Jordan Glenn, Matt Robidoux, and Sudhu Tewari
flatways is a rhythm band made up of no strings guitar (Sudhu Tewari), drum set (Jordan Glenn), and drum machines + live sampling (Matt Robidoux).
Sudhu collaborates makes instruments for the band, such as a one stringed electric bass ("slap thwacker" (invented by Fred Frith in the 80s)) that Sudhu and Matt both play, a 'rhythm box' envisioned by Jordan Glenn, and others soon to come.
flatways is drum n bass, with numerous rhythms meshing, clashing, and rubbing up against one another.
"Drummers are seriously goofy, I mean look at what they're doing. They try acting serious in hopes no one will grab away their favorite implements, and they'll use anything besides a drumstick so you can't easily know they're drummers. But they are. And having a laugh riot never moreso than when the audience sits rapt and pensive. Of course, they're really insanely good at it too, but still. When there's more than one drummer, the collective noun is "a corps" and that cracks them up too, or rather, it reminds them to cement their deceptive grimmace keeping the plain ridiculousness of it all to themselves. The triumvirate Jordan Glenn, Sudhu Tewari, and Matt Robidoux are virtuosi of the grim visage. Don't let them get away with it, come laugh and cheer, and point at flatways!""
